BMF microArch® S150 Series: Micro 3D printing with industrial precision now for lab and desktop

With the new S150 series, Boston Micro Fabrication is launching a compact, easy-to-use system – a milestone for anyone who previously thought micro 3D printing was out of reach.

Anyone who has previously only known high-resolution micro 3D printing in the micrometer range from large industrial systems will be delighted with the new microArch® S150 series from Boston Micro Fabrication. In March 2026, BMF introduced two new systems that aim to make micro-precision 3D printing more accessible, faster and easier – without compromising on resolution or accuracy.

As an authorized Boston Micro Fabrication dealer for Germany and the DACH region, we at AM Pioneers are pleased to introduce you to this new product and explain what it means for development teams in research, medical technology, electronics and life sciences.

Two systems, one goal: micro-precision 3D printing for every workplace

The S150 series consists of two variants that are tailored to different requirements:

microArch® S150 ideal for flexible lab development and precision prototyping. Development teams that work iteratively and require the highest quality in micro 3D printing without compromising on resolution will find their optimal solution here.

microArch® S150 Ultra – the high-throughput system for fast production workflows. With print speeds up to 9 times faster than the standard model – with identical resolution – the S150 Ultra sets new standards for prototype cycles and small batch production in the field of micro-precision 3D printing.

Both systems are designed as desktop solutions and therefore fit directly on the lab bench or in the workshop – without any complex infrastructure.

What makes the S150 series really special: Fully automatic set-up – no external technician required

One time-consuming and costly aspect of microArch systems has been the complex set-up process, which often required specialized expertise and external support. The S150 series is designed so that development teams can commission and operate the system independently. Pre-loaded print parameters for standard materials, an integrated touch screen with guided workflow and a side shift system for the membrane make day-to-day operation self-explanatory – with no manual calibration, no downtime between successive print jobs and no reliance on external technicians for installation.

HEPA13 filtration and UV-C sterilization

For contamination-sensitive applications – medical technology, life science, clean room environments – the integrated HEPA13 filter system in combination with a UV-C sterilization unit (253.7 nm) is a decisive advantage.

Temperature-regulated resin basin up to 60°C

Even highly viscous materials can be processed with ease. This opens the door for specialized materials that could not be used with other micro 3D printing systems.

Compact design for every workplace

Unlike other large industrial models, the S150 series is deliberately designed as a desktop system – for laboratories, office environments and development departments that do not have a dedicated machine room but still require professional micro-precision 3D printing.

Areas of application

The S150 series is designed for a wide range of applications that all have one thing in common: very small, very precise components.

Microfluidics 3D printing – Chips, channels, valves and mixers with structures in the micro range, directly from the printer without tools. The S150 series is therefore one of the most powerful solutions for microfluidic 3D printing on the market – compact, precise and without complex post-processing.

Biomedical devices – Microneedles, endoscope components, catheter tips, diagnostic components – all with the necessary surface quality and reproducibility for medical technology applications.

Electronics & Photonics – Precision housings, optical elements, lens mounts and connectors that would be almost impossible to realize using conventional processes.

Fiber optic technology – mounts, alignment structures and couplers with micrometer precision.

Research & Academia – For university labs and research institutes that need access to industrial micro-precision 3D printing without the investment costs of a full system.

Concrete examples from practice: A heat exchanger for blood cooling systems was printed on the S150 in 78 minutes – a housing with 130 µm features on the S150 Ultra in just 39 minutes.
